How to Style Your
Outdoor Space.

Your patio or balcony deserves as much attention as your living room. With the right furniture and a few styling tricks, outdoor spaces can become your favourite room in the house.

01

Define Your Zones

Divide your outdoor space into functional areas — a lounge zone, a dining zone, and a relaxation corner. Use rugs or planters as natural dividers. Even a small balcony benefits from this approach.

02

Choose Weather-Resistant Materials

Look for UV-stable fabrics, powder-coated aluminum frames, and synthetic rattan. These materials look premium but survive rain, sun, and everything in between without fading or rusting.

03

Layer Your Lighting

String lights overhead, a lantern or two on the table, and a floor lamp in the lounge corner. Warm white light (2700K to 3000K) creates the most inviting outdoor atmosphere after dark.

04

Add Soft Textures

Outdoor cushions, throw blankets, and a weather-resistant rug transform a furniture set into a living space. Stick to 2 to 3 colours max for a cohesive, curated look.

How to Choose
The Right Sofa.

The sofa is the anchor of your living room. Get it right and everything else falls into place. Get it wrong and no amount of styling will save it. Here is how to make the right call.

01

Measure Before You Buy

Leave at least 45 to 60cm of walkway on all sides of your sofa. Measure your doorways too — most sofas need to be tilted diagonally to get through. Sketch your room to scale before ordering.

02

Match Your Lifestyle

Have kids or pets? Go for a tight-weave fabric or performance velvet — they resist stains and pilling. Live alone and entertain rarely? A delicate linen or boucle can work beautifully.

03

Colour Strategy

Neutral sofas in grey, beige or cream give you maximum flexibility with cushions and throws. A bold coloured sofa becomes a statement piece — make sure everything else stays muted around it.

04

Seat Depth Matters

Standard seat depth is 50 to 55cm. Go deeper for a loungy, relaxed feel. Go shallower for a more upright, formal look. Always check the seat height — 42 to 48cm works for most people.

Setting Up Your
Outdoor Dining Space.

From a quick morning coffee to a long summer dinner with friends — your outdoor dining setup sets the tone for every meal outside. Here is how to get it right.

01

Size Your Table Right

Allow 60cm per person along the table edge. For 4 people, a 120 by 80cm table works well. For 6 to 8, go for 200 by 90cm. Leave 90cm between the table edge and any wall or fence for comfortable chair movement.

02

Bistro vs Full Dining Set

Balcony or small patio? A bistro set with 2 to 3 chairs and a small table is perfect. Have a larger terrace and entertain regularly? A full 6-seater dining set creates a proper outdoor dining room experience.

03

Shade is Everything

A parasol or pergola transforms a dining set from functional to luxurious. Position it to block afternoon sun. A 3m parasol covers a 6-seater table comfortably.

04

Style the Table

Even outdoors, a centerpiece makes a difference. A simple lantern, a potted plant, or a tray with candles elevates the whole space. Use placemats in a contrasting colour to add visual interest.

How to Light
Your Home Right.

Lighting is the most underrated element of interior design. The same room can feel cold and clinical or warm and inviting — purely based on how it is lit. Here is how to get it right.

01

Layer Your Light Sources

Never rely on a single overhead light. Layer ambient light from the ceiling, task light for reading and cooking, and accent light from wall lights and lamps. Three layers create depth and warmth that one light source never can.

02

Colour Temperature Matters

Warm white between 2700 and 3000K is best for living rooms and bedrooms. It is relaxing and flattering. Cool white above 4000K works in kitchens and home offices where you need focus and clarity.

03

Wall Lights Change Everything

Wall-mounted lights draw the eye upward and make ceilings feel higher. Place them at eye level — 150 to 160cm from floor — on either side of a sofa, bed, or mirror for a balanced, hotel-like effect.

04

Switch to LED

Modern LED lights use up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs and last 15 to 25 times longer. They are dimmable, available in every colour temperature, and the quality of light is now indistinguishable from halogen.
